Designed for high-performance marine laminates, this orthophthalic resin is ideal for FRP boat hulls, hatches, panels, and tanks. Its crystal-clear appearance and controlled reactivity allow for smooth processing using hand lay-up and spray-up techniques, ensuring compatibility with chopped strand mats (CSM) and woven roving systems.
Optimised for New Zealand's moderate workshop conditions (18°C–28°C), this resin offers predictable curing performance. At 25°C using 1.5% MEKP, the gel time is approximately 13.5 minutes, enabling a workable open time for lay-up without premature curing. The final laminate reaches full crosslinking with a peak exotherm around 188°C, resulting in excellent mechanical bonding and hydrolysis resistance.
Key Applications
Marine hulls, canopies, covers, tanks, and panel laminates
Fabrication of FRP structures with exposure to fresh and saltwater
Hand lay-up and spray-up compatible
Suitable for use with CSM, woven roving, and ARG fibre systems
Recommended Conditions
Ambient workshop temperature: 18°C–28°C
Avoid application below 15°C or in high humidity environments
Ensure good ventilation and consistent airflow to promote even curing
Adjust MEKP dosage (typically 1.0–2.0%) to fine-tune gel/cure behaviour
Storage & Shelf Life
Shelf life: 3 months from date of manufacture
Store at <25°C in airtight containers
Keep away from heat, ignition sources, and direct sunlight
Avoid moisture contamination to preserve resin quality
